Biblical View of gatekeepers
I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem;
they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth. Isaiah 62:6-7 NIV

Gates are often mentioned  in Scriptures, and gatekeepers play a very important part in maintaining order in ancient and modern societies. Gatekeepers are guards who will and can be placed at different  kind of gates.

Examples
:
1.Hotels/ Functions gate
2. Palace/ Temple gates
3. Store/ Supermarkets gate

Apostle Paul has illustrated eight examples of “Gatekeepers” that should stand in the gateway of all Christian believers thinking:

1.Whatever is true
2.Whatever is noble
3.Whatever is right
4.Whatever is pure
5.Whatever is lovely
6.Whatever is admirable
7.Think about things that are excellent or praiseworthy
8.Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me put it into practice.
These are moral attributes that Paul is expecting every Christians should adhere to. Philippians 4:8-9 NIV
First, as our mind is fed information, we should ask ourselves is it true?” God’s own truth can be our measure.

Then we should think is it honorable? Does the thing I hear have a noble ring to it? Is the action I am being asked to take respectable.

Then we need to determine. Is it right? it is just and fair? We can search the           Gospel and see if Jesus addressed the issue, If what He said was right?

When we consider watching a movie, television programmes or consider reading a book, It is usually a good idea to ask ourselves is this beneficial to our spiritual growth or is this pure and lovely?.  Will this data I am feeding into my mind result in godly love and beautiful actions?
We also need to ask ourselves is it admirable? Is what I am thinking about praiseworthy and well reputed, does it sound attractive or appealing?.  The word admirable has been rendered as high-toned. We as Children of God should not be gossiping about each other or listening to gossip, it is unlike Christ.

Conclusion
Finally, we must consider, is what we are thinking  excellent and worthy of praise?  I am sure many of us would have difficulty  agreeing that most of our thought life is excellent. We should hold our thoughts above the world’s thoughts. Reach for your star, don’t settle for mediocrity.
If we would all determine to allow only that which calls down the approval of God into our thought’s patterns, then we would  be well on our  way to experiencing continuous peace of mind. If so, Paul concluded that  we should value the approval of God. “Think about such things “.

May you have a productive day
