What is Prayer?
Prayer is talking to God, seeking Him and listening for His response. Reading and meditating on the word of God both the old and new testament gives us an insight in how men and women of old were able to connect with God.
Luke 11:1—e.g. One of Jesus’ disciple requested of Him, teach us how to pray.
Our Father who art in Heaven we are calling on your name this day. I worship you in the beauty of Holiness. I honour you as my Lord and Master. This is the day you have made; I will rejoice and be glad in it. I acknowledge (Psalms 5:3) My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
With gratitude, I thank you for preserving our lives one more day.
With gratitude, I thank you for your ultimate gift of love for us in the form of your son and the sacrifice of His life on our behalf.
Lord teach us your ways that we may rely on your faithfulness. Teach us to number our days and to use our time wisely.
I don’t know what this day holds, but I know that you hold the day. It was you that laid the foundations of the Earth and therefore understands every part of it. I know that you keep the sun in the sky, the stars in place, and have created this Earth for mankind to inhabit and enjoy.
Lord I pray for wisdom that is peaceable, gentle, and approachable, with lots of mercy and fairness. You said in (James 1:5) unlimited supply of wisdom is available to me if I simply ask, so I pray for wisdom to know how to deal with the many people and situations that will cross my path whether at home, in my workplace or anywhere I will go.
I pray for your protection throughout this day; protect me from harm and evil; go before me please to the left and right and also be my guide. Order my steps so that I will walk worthy of your calling throughout this day.
May your Word come alive to me so that it is a living guide in every situation. Help me, Lord, to remember the promises of your Word and bring the right passage to my remembrance for the situation. I acknowledge Lord that I need to spend more time with you reading your word and praying so that I can be prepared for whatever the day brings. Lord, I know that your Word is indeed a light unto my feet and a light unto my path. (Psalms 119:105)
Remove fear and anxiety from me. As a believer you said in your Words that you have not given us a spirit of fear, but of love power and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) So when I am fearful, may I remember your love for me, and use that love as the example to love others and see situations differently.
Lord, draw me close to You today that I may dwell in Your presence, as You have promised in your Word in (James 4:8) Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. I want to know every day that You can be known, that Your word changes hearts, enriches souls and make us wise.
Lord I am your child, I know that I am your masterpiece though I feel so unworthy help me to remember my worth in you when I am faced with challenging situations. When I feel depressed, help me to remember that (Psalms 139:14) said that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in your image and that you loved me so much you thought that I was worth dying for. I don’t know anyone who would die for us but you were willing and I am eternally grateful and humbled.
Lord thank you, you are beyond understanding.
You are the God of abundance.
You are mine and I am yours.
I submit all to you today in the mighty name of Jesus.
Have a wonderful day, remember to look to the hills from whence cometh your help.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL
