What is Todah Praise

Philosophy view of Todah Praise

Praise also means thanksgiving

Biblical view of Todah Praise

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalm 100:3-4 KJV

Todah is a word that was used in the Old Testament several times, but its meaning and significance is very much applicable to use here and now. It is many times misunderstood as it has more than one meaning.  Sometimes it is used when confession is made to God with regards to sin, but more often it is used when referring to praise and worship, as it also deals with thanksgiving and the literal extending of the hand in worship.

“He who offers a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving honors Me;
And to him who orders his way rightly [who follows the way that I show him],
I shall show the salvation of God. Psalm 50: 23 AMP

Todah praise is something that cannot be forced on anyone it must be an extremely and completely voluntary act, something you are willing to do. It often relates to thanksgiving as in the giving of an offering or sacrifice.  Anytime our praise and worship:

1. Becomes a sacrifice

2. Something we feel

3.Something that cost us something, it is Todah praise.

This praise always moves God, because God himself knows what it feels like to sacrifice. The bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” John 3:16KJV

So how then can we as children of God refuse to extend our hands in worship and thanksgiving? How can we refuse to offer a sacrifice to God when we think of all he has done for us, even on a day-to- day basis? Who else has been there, leading us, guiding and helping us through all the maladies and vicissitudes of life? When the stresses of this life have leftt us languid tired and lethargic, God has always been that “very present help in the time of trouble.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1KJV

Let us always bring an offering of praise and thanksgiving to God.
